Some clips doing the rounds

There are of clips doing the rounds at the moment. And for both of them, there is something about them that is slightly sad.

The first is this one

Here a seemingly drunken Sarah Ferguson is seen touting the only wares she has – access to her former husband. Other than setting up a meeting, she really promises nothing. Sure, she says that it will ‘open doors’ for the lying ‘businessman’ but actually all that will happen is that the ‘businessman’ will talk to her ex-hubby and she will be listening. She does a good selling job or, rather, tries to. For just half a million smackers she will fix up the appointment and actually be there when it happens!

There seems to be considerable shock and outrage at this terrible thing. But, really, who is it harming, except the ‘businessman’s’ deep pockets? More importantly, who cares? And, in the whole scheme of things is it really important? Some failed, would-be royal promises to use her contacts to fix some meeting with some actual-but-almost-no-better-than-her royal!

And this cannot possibly be in the public interest. This is like looking at someone who once had everything, going through the rubbish bins in the park – not a nice sight and one from which one turns one’s head for both your and her dignity!

Then there is the oh-my-god, stunningly-absurdly-crazy video/advert being aired on British TV for the first time. First you should watch it. Watch it before you know what it is actually about.

Then, other than possibly helping some girl/woman who might be pregnant, tell me what’s wrong with it and how it can be such a “bad” thing?

It’s a bad thing, apparently, because it allows some more girls/women to do something that is perfectly legal. It just directs you to a place where they help with that sort of thing. Nothing underhand; nothing illegal; it doesn’t even mention the word – and yet it is a scandal!

Not being a woman, I feel I have no right to dictate to women about what they should or shouldn’t do. The choice is theirs and theirs alone (or with help if they want) but certainly not for me to tell them what they should do. It’s their life and their body – if it was my life and my body I would be telling everyone else to butt out! It is so sad that it seems some people don’t want women to have any choice. This advert doesn’t once mention abortion even if it is being called the ‘Abortion Advert’.

OK, rant over :-)
